Lucia entered the cafeteria the same way she did every day, without any real ceremony, grabbing a sandwich and a bottle of water and sitting down at her customary empty table at the far end of the cafeteria.
She sat curled up on the hard chair, a pensive expression on her face, waiting for something, anything, to happen to brighten up her otherwise extremely boring day. Her only consolation was her decision to skip afternoon classes and go straight home after her crazy charade of lunch.
Sighing quietly to herself, she dug a battered copy of 'Pride and Prejudice' out of her bag and began scouring the pages, for what must have been the millionth time.
Alice felt like sizzling it up. This was nothing new. Leave it to Alice to feel like change. Gliding into the cafeteria, she waved to Edward and Jasper sitting at the usual Cullen table, grabbed a sandwich and apple she knew she 'd never eat, and decided to sit by Lucia, who looked bored sitting there reading Pride and Prejudice. Alice couldn't blame her--last time she'd choked down the book, which must have been at least fifty or so years ago, it had been horribly dull. Feeling even more peppy than usual, she sat down at the lone, sad table.
"Hi!" she said in what she hoped wasn't too eager of a voice. She shot Edward and Jasper a pleading look, hoping they'd understand her reasoning, not that they ever really did. Edward didn't seem to notice her, and Jasper just rolled his eyes. Whatever, she thought. They can be uppity without me, then.
